The Surplus الفائض

هذا العمل مبادرة لإنتاج مادّة من مقاطع فيلميّة اصطلح على اعتبارها مستهلكة، واضعة بذلك حداً للإنتروبيا (مقياس الفوضى) العالية الكامنة فيها. لقد تطلّب ذلك أن يتم فرض نظام معيّن على “الفيديو القمامة”، فنجم عن ذلك تحوٌل في الإنتروبيا: اتخذت الإنتروبيا التي تمظهرت كمادّة مهملة شكل تراكب متطابق. لقد تحرٌرت الإنتروبيا من قيود شكلها الأصلي كمادّة مهملة، فصار التراكب ملاذًاً لها. بيد أنٌ التراكب نفسه ليس سوى مادّة مهملة

This work is an initiative to make substance out of conventionally obsolete filmed footage, in the process limiting the large entropy inherent in it. The process called for a need to impose order on the ‘garbage video’. What resulted instead was a shift in entropy: entropy that manifested as unused material took the new form of superposition. Entropy escaped its original form of discard, taking refuge in superposition. However, the superposition itself is discarded material!
